[11:49:15] NASSP Logging has been started by indy91 [15:37:01] Did it stop again? My internet seems to be unstable lately. I hope it's just my ISP doing maintenance. [16:12:50] yeah, it wasn't on [16:46:41] I might need to look in creating an autostart feature after all. [16:46:59] morning! [16:49:30] Hey [16:50:27] what's up? [16:51:42] Heading to a bbq/meeting in a minute. Will be gone for scouting this weekend. Yourself? [16:52:04] work work work [16:52:14] always lots of work to do :P [16:53:18] bbq/meeting sounds like a pretty sweet combo [16:54:13] Depends on which order they decide to do them. It starts at 7. If they do the meeting first everyone will be hungry. If they do the bbq first everyone will be drunk. :p [16:58:39] haha [17:08:23] hey Mike [17:08:31] yo [17:21:51] what's up? [17:25:26] still mostly recovering. Haven't done anything with NASSP today. [17:26:49] recovering is a good use of time :D [17:28:50] yeah [17:32:12] good morning [17:36:11] hey [17:41:17] o/ [17:42:21] man, Ron has already finished transcribing all of the logic schematics for 2003200/2003993 [17:44:24] impressive [17:45:11] he went way faster than I did my first time doing that :P [18:10:37] morning! [18:11:15] hey [18:12:33] what's up? [18:16:11] not a whole lot [18:16:19] trying to figure out what all I want to do today [18:16:42] going to try a couple different ways to stress some of these capacitors to the point of failure [18:17:31] it sounds like I'm going to have a solid week of time to work on the AGC towards the end of next month [18:17:36] so I need to be as prepared as possible :D [18:17:55] what are you up to? [18:19:22] just replying to an email from Fabrizio [18:19:46] And I'll probably continue with Apollo 16 soon [18:20:00] and I also want to fly Apollo 7 and 8 again before their 50th anniversaries [18:20:04] gives them a few MCC updates [18:20:33] since the 7.0 release I only updated those missions as much as I had to so that the MCC is working [18:21:02] but since then some more features are possible to be implemented [18:21:16] map updates for Apollo 8 for example [18:21:42] those weren't reliable until a few months ago, so only the RTCC MFD had a way to calculate them [18:23:34] ah nice, yeah that would be cool [18:29:31] and I'll probably update the Apollo 7 and 8 scenario that we release with NASSP [18:29:54] if we don't do any major CSM ECS changes then they might already be the final versions [18:30:00] scenarios* [18:30:52] so flying 16, 7 and 8 is my next goal [18:30:58] should keep me busy for many weeks :D [18:35:56] hahaha yes, that sounds about right :D [18:36:46] oh, and we didn't even have a SCOT for Apollo 7 when I implemented the MCC for it [18:37:10] now I have two, the one I got from UHCL and the one I discovered on the archived NTRS a few weeks later... [18:37:50] strangely enough the only SCOT for the right launch date we don't have is Apollo 11 [18:38:02] and I believe there never was one for the right launch date for Apollo 9 [18:38:11] blame the LM [18:49:16] shakes his fist at Grumman [10:51:17] good morning [10:59:10] hey [11:06:12] just trying out Alex's 9 scenarios [11:07:15] i guess they are similar to what the 11 scenarios will look like [11:07:22] yes [11:07:37] I have decided to fly Apollo 7 and 8 soon and update the scenarios we have for those missions [11:08:14] and update the MCC updates [11:08:20] very nice [11:08:36] because there is no LEM in those, these scenarios might already be the final versions [11:08:46] unless we still do major CSM ECS changes [11:13:04] just thinking about it apollo 8 took a major risk with no lem [11:14:02] yeah [11:14:48] in translunar coast they always wanted to be close enough to free return, so that you could get home with only the RCS [11:15:41] from LOI to PDI you could normally use the DPS to perform a docked TEI burn [11:15:51] that was of course not a possible backup on Apollo 8 [11:15:59] SPS really had to work [11:19:09] i guess if apollo 13 happened on 8 the crew would have been screwed [11:19:19] no lifeboat [11:22:54] yep, major trouble [17:14:26] morning! [17:20:31] hey [17:33:20] what's up? [17:36:16] did a bit more Apollo 16 flying, not much else [17:52:48] you? killed any capacitors yet? [18:04:20] no! [18:04:24] amazingly [18:04:45] so these things are known for blowing up if you do anything outside of their specs [18:05:14] they're rated for 35V, and have absolute maximum negative voltage specs of 15%, so -5.25V [18:05:40] so I slowly over the course of a couple hours stepped it up to -18V [18:05:48] and it was totally fine, no noticeable changes [18:06:02] pretty good [18:06:10] once I hit about -20V or so, something did change, and the supply kicked over to constant current mode [18:06:33] it settled around 8-9V, and seemed to take as much current as I would give it [18:07:00] but through all of this, connecting it the right way around it still behaved like a perfectly fine capacitor, albeit with a somewhat lower DCR [18:07:31] so eventually I just gave it a solid 40mA at ~8.7V for several hours [18:07:52] putting a good 300mW on it [18:07:56] so it was warm to the touch [18:08:02] and after all of this, it still seems to work [18:08:24] so I'm feeling pretty good about how well these things hold up :) [18:08:37] good to hear [18:20:26] I also found the perfect dev board for making the AGC monitor and maybe a module tester [18:20:28] https://numato.com/product/styx-zynq-7020-fpga-module [18:21:10] really capable little chip that has both an FPGA and a hard ARM core, and a whole boatload of I/O [18:21:11] :D [18:21:32] dual-core ARM even [18:29:56] nice little device [12:02:35] hey [12:27:00] hey [12:28:57] Have you landed at Descartes yet? [12:29:30] haha, no [12:29:37] I am half way in TLC [12:30:05] ah, your flying it real time :D [12:30:42] I was flying it barely at all [12:31:20] mostly due to sickness [12:33:26] after 16 I plan to fly Apollo 7 and 8 again [12:33:30] update MCC and scenarios [12:34:01] Ah I see, I was sure it was because of oktoberfest :p [12:34:37] haha [12:34:46] I'm very Northern German [12:35:17] no connection to the Oktoberfest [12:35:24] Ah I see [12:35:37] that's only a Bavaria thing [12:36:13] I have been on the Oktoberfest, but I had no choice. It was a school trip, no joke. [12:36:55] haha [12:38:29] Ive actually been to Germany on a school trip myself, years ago lol [12:39:07] where have you all been? [12:40:03] We did about 7 countries. In Germany we stayed in Munich for 2 nights I think [12:40:27] ah, so just Munich [12:40:41] yep [12:40:56] lots to see there [12:41:20] on that school trip we were in Munich for a week and did a lot of sightseeing all around [12:41:53] 0.1 ft/s for MCC-3, no thanks [12:42:22] oh, didn't adjust the TIG [12:42:28] 0.4 ft/s for MCC-3, no thanks [12:42:51] nice [12:43:07] no I would need the Space Digitals display to determine of the node and pericynthion states are acceptable, haha [12:43:09] now* [12:43:16] if* [12:43:48] Have you ever been to France? My great grand-father came from Alsace-Lorraine which I believe was once part of Germany [12:44:04] no, never been to France [12:44:23] and that area did change hands a few times between France and Germany, yeah [12:44:51] yeah, the "Bart" family name comes from there [12:45:15] well my great grand-fathers at least [12:45:32] yeah [12:45:58] its funny because its an extremely rare family name in Canada [12:46:28] yeah, sounds rare [12:46:56] I guess one of your ancestors had a mighty beard :D [12:47:08] lol maybe [12:49:37] yeah, I think I'll add that Space Digitals page very soon [12:49:56] should be quite useful [12:50:09] great [12:51:25] so thats the cis-lunar version of the orbit digitals display [12:51:30] yep [12:51:53] displays info on node, pericynthion, entry interface, vacuum perigee [12:52:05] depending on the state of the mission the first displays are blanked [12:52:19] so before reentry it could only have the last two parts [12:52:24] would* [12:52:46] and, as with most other displays, I have a few versions of it by now [12:53:13] they changed it from mission to mission and some small differences between RTACF and RTCC version [12:53:34] but only one RTCC document I have actually describes every single displayed quantity [12:58:52] I'll probably add a new category at the top level in the RTCC MFD for these MCC-H displays [12:59:12] I have good info on a bunch more of them [12:59:25] like what the PAO had available etc. [13:00:18] all sounds very interesting, looking forward to see that [13:01:04] some other displays would just be different formats of currently already available calculation pages [16:59:44] later! [17:06:32] morning! [17:27:34] hey [17:43:18] what's up? [17:47:22] few more hours of Apollo 16 flying, not much else [18:21:43] couldn't do everything in the flight plan though [18:22:07] Was missing the ingredients for the "Skylab food test"
